Advice for recent grads stepping in Advertising

The world of advertising is extremely competitive. While getting a degree from a good college and having a great portfolio can give you a good start, but there is always something more that you can do to give yourself a competitive edge. My advice for recent grads stepping in Advertising is to start freelancing because outsourcing manpower nowadays is in demand. Go for an internship and let them know that you’re interested in pursuing a full-time career. Get your hands on as many roles as you can in the project (Google is your friend), no matter how small and never cease growing! Hopefully, once you made it, you can give back to the community by answering questions for the newcomers. Good luck and enjoy the journey!

“Any advice for recent grads stepping into Jr. CW/AD roles in Advertising?? Hi Guys, I am getting ready to graduate from Miami Ad School’s portfolio program as a copywriter. While I have nothing but amazing things to say about my time and experience at school, I get a bit anxious with the direction that the industry is headed— major downsizing. Lately, I tend to worry about the careers of my fellow classmates and I, as we try to get hired in agencies during these faltering times. Most agencies are even canceling internship programs this year due to Covid, which makes many students and creatives distraught about our careers, or lack there of. This goes out to all the creatives in the industry. What advice would you give us newbies trying to land agency jobs as jr. creatives?”

I started a *Marketing Support* Playlist on my YouTube channel where I answer some of the latest questions on Reddit (r/AskMarketing) with plans to expand further on other social forum channels.

So, what questions about Digital Marketing do you have?

Reason why Im doing this is because I believe in PAYING IT FORWARD concept. 10 years ago, when I was just starting with my career, I spent an awful lot of time on Yahoo! Answers, Quora, Github, and comment sections on Blogs. I would say that if not for the kind people who answer questions like this, I would’ve given up on learning SEO, PPC, Conversion Rate Optimizations, Inbound Mktg, and Web development. This is my way of keeping that community alive – by offering peer-to-peer solutions, brainstorm, and support for the new breed of digital marketers that first source opinion and ideas. DIY small biz owners, career shifters, practitioners, and straight out uni and short courses – I see you. Good luck on your journey and never stop growing!

If you believe in this too, show your support me by hitting the SUBSCRIBE button. If you learned a thing or two, or an idea lit up on your head, HIT the LIKE button. And I urge you to pay it forward by SHARING the video on your social media and instant messaging apps – I’m sure there are people like you that will benefit from this.
