What New York to me in 5 senses

I miss New York. The chaotic concrete jungle. I get first fascinated by the city sound: orchestration of accents and languages I haven’t heard since because there they speak 800 languages and dialects. Subway train tracks could be deafening.

Visual wise, people mostly wear black trench coats and neutral colors. They speak animatedly.

Scent? Halal food trucks, whiff of winter leaves, and that distinct stench from road steam.

Taste? The best sandwich I had is from a bodega. Pizzas, Bagels, Hotdogs (I still crave for sauerkrauts) are the highlight and they are crazy with cheese whereas in LA, your head will spin will w/ vegan, gluten-free, and sorts of choices.

Feel. Chicago and California ppl are a lot warmer and too friendly. So if that is my point of reference then New Yorkers are snobs. Haha! I especially like the tight knit community there although if you’re with one of them, they can be welcoming (I met jewish group and french peeps) their stories of making it ‘til they made it is just fascinating as the culture they wish to preserve in their new found home.

New York reminds me of hustle, dedication, and vibrant outlook in life despite. I think this is what made the city popular, no matter what culture or background, preference, social class, you will find your group, you will thrive, blend in until the word ‘indifferent’ becomes a foreign word of itself
